At Chapel St we understand that faith has always played a vital role in British society and public life. In the United Kingdom we enjoy a rich tradition of public services, many of which were pioneered by local churches and charities. For hundreds of years people of faith have invested in their communities right across our country, creating schools, hospitals, housing providers and employment projects, to name a few.
Our Vision
At Chapel St we’re determined to help local communities live up to this legacy in the twenty-first century. With this in mind we strive to help churches and faith based organisations to engage in politics, public service and local community life. By equipping churches and charities to serve their communities and address these needs in new and enterprising ways, we will put the chapel on the street and invite whole communities into a real and dynamic, relational community.
In order to achieve this we believe it will be necessary to reimagine the way that churches and faith communities engage with civil society. Given the lack of money in the public purse and the growing need in many communities, we must find new ways to create and build community and provide people with the help the require and the opportunities they deserve.
