As the African proverb says - ‘It takes a community to raise a child.’ We believe in the positive impact that a community can have on a young person’s life.
Our mentoring support is based on the ‘Developmental Assets’ framework. This model identifies a set of skills, experiences, relationships, and behaviours that enable young people to develop into successful and contributing adults.
The exciting and important message of the research is that communities often have the capacity to deliver many of these assets to young people in their context.
Chapel St is developing a network of youth mentors and community volunteers. By providing supportive relationships and vocational opportunities a young person’s development can thrive.
